If you do not manage risk as a day trader, you will not be a day trader very long. The stock market absolutely does reward bad behavior; however, that is only a temporary dynamic until the stock market decides to pull out the sledge hammer! If you want to survive in the markets (so you can ultimately thrive and make money), you need to learn about risk management. I will fully admit it is not the most exciting topic to talk about when learning how to day trade and find success, but it is a required topic that must be mastered. It may seem overly dramatic to proclaim that you have zero chance at success without learning how to manage risk, but as any trader with experience (and success) will tell you, you MUST learn all about risk management. You must learn how to control risk, hedge against it, and realize the importance of risk control within a trade plan.
